The biggest lie they ever told you is called overnight success.

“Our supplier cut us off.”

“All we have left are our Nikes….”

I’m reading The Shoe Dog, a memoir of Nike’s founder, Phill Knight.

Besides the longwinded detailed stories in this book, I always find the same theme.

Building a business is hard.

And yet…

Out there are gurus who promise you roses and unicorns. Build your business in 30 days and never work a day in your life.

Really, living in your mom’s basement, wannabee guru?

Now, before you get discouraged, rush back to your 9-5 after hitting the first obstacle. There are some ways to make your journey less painful.

Before we jump in, let’s manage your expectations.

Building a business is like having a relationship.

When you’re in love and have butterflies in your stomach, everything is beautiful.

But there are moments when you like to throw your partner off a cliff.

The same goes for your business.

Prepare to hit some rocky times. But I can promise you this.

When you start to find success, it will be the best thing you’ll ever experience after the invention of the PlayStation 5.

So keep at it.

Let’s look at that list to make your journey more enjoyable.

Get a mentor.

Find a person who has done before what you’re about to do.
I’m going to be honest with you.

Most of the things you already know.

A mentor serves more as an accountability partner that keeps you from making costly mistakes.

Connect with the right people.

Most of your friends suck. You might agree or disagree.

But the nr 1 reason you’re not moving forward is because the wrong people surround you.

Find people who are 3 steps ahead of you.

Bounce ideas and share experiences.

I promise your life will change when you fire your broke-ass friends.

Build a course.

Robert Kiyosaki talks about assets vs liabilities.

Assets make you money, and a liability costs you money.

Simple right?

But still, most entrepreneurs create jobs for themselves. What I mean by that is that they need to look for new clients every month.

It’s time to serve your clients at a massive scale and generate leads for your higher priced products.

Build your course once and sell it multiple times in different forms. That’s a serious asset that will bring you freedom over time.
