Virgil here. Live from the islands of the gods.
You want to change your life and get shit done, but nothing goes as planned.
You’re juggling time between your business and personal life.
Do you have sleepless nights and fights with your partner?
Eventually leading to anxiety and even depression.
I understand how you feel. It’s hard to build an audience, market to them and eventually pull in some sales.
I would put my head down and research every topic. I could build a 20 feet tower of all my notebooks. I needed to figure out where to start.
One day I decided it was enough. I hired a mentor. Things went lightning fast.
By following a proven step-by-step method, I was able to shortcut my success. I went from rags to riches in under three years.
I discovered the 6 essential pillars for business success:
- Control of negative thoughts.
- Detailed goal setting.
- A plan to execute those goals.
- A regular flow of new leads in your business.
- A system to nurture your leads.
- A simple sales process.
- A proper distribution system for your product or service.
- An honest way of selling more to exciting clients.
In today’s newsletter, I’ll share parts of my GSD90 system.
A system I’ve created and refined over the last decade helped me build a 7 figure online business.
Buckle up. It’s going to be a wild ride!
Lead generation
The subtle art of building a loyal following.
Every business needs a fresh flow of leads.
Most people focus on shiny objects.
When you have no clients, what’s the need of a website?
When you want to grow, you need to focus on money-making tasks.
The biggest question is, where do I find leads?
This topic alone deserves a whole newsletter dedicated to it.
But here are a few simple ways of doing it. I’ve divided them into two categories:
Paid and organic
When you have a pile of cash, hire a great ad agency.
Let them create a sales funnel for you. Throw money at the funnel until it converts.
I love free traffic, so let’s focus on organic lead generation.
The best way to start lead generation is on Twitter. Here is a great thread on how to build your audience on Twitter.
Lead Nurture
Win hearts, nurture your leads
Imagine you’re on a first date with your dream partner.
The first thing you try to do is kiss her passionately.
You get smacked in the face in a split second, and your date runs off.
To sell your service, you have to date your prospect.
Share everything you know, don’t hold back.
There you are on the toilet reading these words. And all you can think:
Do you want me to give all my shit away for free?
The answer is YES!
Before you sell your incredible service, win their heart some more.
The easiest way to wow your customer is to get them on your email list.
Send them great content that helps them move forward.
Win their heart, and you’ll be able to sell them your service over time.
Conversion
It’s time to sell your goods.
One of the biggest fears after dying is fear of rejection.
It’s a huge thing to ask for money.
But there is an even higher price when you never sell to anybody. Hear me out.
Let’s say you will not sell to Harry.
This will have a string of causes and effects.
Harry will not improve his life.
The result is he loses his job and slips into depression.
After years of struggle, he loses everything.
You’ll lose confidence. Before you know it, you’re back at your shitty day job.
What happens when you do sell to Harry?
Harry will find a purpose in life.
Slowly he will see results. Harry is so grateful he tells all his friends about you.
You’ll gain confidence and experience. The more people you help, the more you’ll earn.
Your success is a direct reflection of how many people you help.
Delivery
Deliver your service and make people smile.
Now it’s time to deliver your service. Many people get this step wrong.
You see, delivery is all about convenience.
Let’s say you have a video course. And you send them a google drive link.
You delivered, right?
Wrong!!
Make it as easy as possible for people to consume your content.
Create a notion document.
Drop it in Gumbroad. There are so many ways to make a professional delivery.
That’s what your business is about. Sweep people off their feet.
Deliver extraordinary results and create raving fans for years to come.
Upsells/cross sells
Happy clients love to buy more.
When people have consumed your product or service, you need to offer them the next step.
Sell them more of the same.
The reason why most businesses fail is that they always operate in the first 4 pillars.
That means you always need to find new clients.
It’s always good to have clients coming in, but you should not depend on it.
The easiest clients are the ones that bought from you before. They know, like and trust you.
so they will buy when you offer them the next step.
To understand the final pillar better, I like to introduce the concept of the value ladder.
The Value ladder
Harry entered your little ecosystem because he loves a tweet you wrote.
He signs up for your email list.
After a while, Harry buys a low-ticket product from you.
His skills improve, and before you know it, Harry is a high-paying coaching client.
In the next steps, you sell Harry the same product with more resources and support. Be creative and sell more.
The GSD90 Framework
“What gets measured gets improved.”
– Robin Sharma
To grow your business consistently, you need to have a proper system.
Over the years, I’ve created and refined the GSD90 Framework.
The system is taught t me by Todd Herman. A genius in the field of productivity and mindset.
In a previous newsletter, I wrote a detailed tutorial on how to plan your goals. You can find it here.
But only defining your goals in detail is 50% of the battle. It’s time to track your business progress.
Every week you give each of the five pillars a score from 1-5.
When one of the pillars gets below 3 adjust your course.
Let’s say that pillar nr 3: conversion is falling behind.
That means you need to improve your sales. Spend time finding out what you can improve.
Maybe it’s your sales script. Or the way you ask for the sale.
Think of the GSD system as crossing the ocean on a sailboat.
When you leak, you fix the hole and continue your journey.
Your daily to-do’s:
- Every Friday, give each pillar a score from 1-5
- When you notice one pillar has a lower score, adjust next week.
When you’re starting, you will not have a product to sell. Don’t get overwhelmed. You will only be working with the first two pillars.
Over time you will build the other three pillars. You don’t build a house in one day.
Take time for the proper foundation; you will have an asset for years.
Now back to you
You have all the information to scale your business.
It doesn’t matter where you’re now. You can be a starter or a person running a business for years.
When you implement the GSD90 framework, I promise everything will change.
TD;DR
I’ve shared a lot of information. By now, you know the importance of tracking your numbers.
I know you are excited to start, but let’s give you an overview of the pillars:
- Lead generation.
- Lead nurture.
- Conversion.
- Delivery.
- Cross-sell / Upsells.
Now it’s your turn. Take fearless action. Show up every day, and you’ll be fine!
Power to you!
